Living and selling in Meco
Meco lies about 38 km north-east of Madrid, in the Henares corridor, very close to Alcalá de Henares and the border with the province of Guadalajara. It has around 16,000 inhabitants and has grown a great deal in recent decades: the traditional centre has been joined by neighbourhoods of new flats, terraced and single-family houses, with wide streets and green spaces. It keeps the atmosphere of a medium-sized town, with local shops and basic services in the town itself.
It has a Cercanías commuter rail station on line C-2, with trains to Alcalá, Atocha and Chamartín, and the A-2 motorway is nearby. It usually appeals to young families and people who work in the corridor and are looking for more square metres for their budget. Asking prices are among the most affordable in the region, with a moderate rise over the last year.
