Living and selling in the East of Madrid

The East of Madrid brings together sixteen municipalities east of the capital, with around 742,000 inhabitants. It is organised around two axes: the Henares corridor, along the A-2, with Coslada, San Fernando de Henares, Torrejón de Ardoz and Alcalá de Henares; and the A-3 axis, with Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Velilla de San Antonio and Arganda del Rey. The area is completed by Paracuellos de Jarama, Ajalvir and Mejorada del Campo and, in the countryside north of Alcalá, Meco, Daganzo de Arriba, Camarma de Esteruelas and other smaller villages.

Flats in blocks from the 1970s and 80s predominate in the older towns, alongside new neighbourhoods of flats with communal areas and terraced houses in Rivas, Paracuellos and the new districts of Alcalá and Torrejón. Transport is good: Cercanías commuter rail lines C-2 and C-7 along the Henares, Metro line 7 to Coslada and San Fernando, line 9 to Rivas and Arganda, and motorways such as the A-2, the A-3, the M-40, the M-45 and the M-50. There are many industrial and logistics jobs, partly because the airport is close by.

  • Cercanías: lines C-2 and C-7 (Henares corridor)
  • Metro: line 7 (Coslada and San Fernando) and line 9 (Rivas and Arganda)
  • A-2 and A-3 motorways
  • Alcalá de Henares, UNESCO World Heritage
