The Oeste Metropolitano area groups eleven municipalities to the west and north-west of the capital, with around 534,000 inhabitants. It mainly follows the A-6 corridor, with Pozuelo de Alarcón, Majadahonda, Las Rozas, Torrelodones, Galapagar and Collado Villalba, already at the gateway to the mountains. Further south are Boadilla del Monte, Villaviciosa de Odón, Villanueva de la Cañada and Brunete, and to the north, Hoyo de Manzanares.
It is a mainly residential area, with many detached houses and residential estates, neighbourhoods of flats with communal areas and large green spaces, such as the Monte de Boadilla and the Dehesa de Navalcarbón. Pozuelo de Alarcón and Majadahonda have the highest prices in the region outside the capital. It is connected with Madrid by the A-6, the M-503, the M-40 and the M-50, by Cercanías commuter rail (lines C-7, C-8 and C-10 along the A-6 corridor) and by Metro Ligero light rail in Pozuelo and Boadilla.
