Living and selling in the South of Madrid
The southern metropolitan area is the most populated part of the Madrid region after the capital: 12 municipalities with almost 1.4 million inhabitants. It includes large cities such as Móstoles, Fuenlabrada, Leganés, Getafe, Alcorcón and Parla and, further south, Pinto, Valdemoro, Ciempozuelos, San Martín de la Vega and Aranjuez, with its Royal Palace and its cultural landscape listed as World Heritage. There are university campuses, hospitals and large industrial, logistics and shopping areas.
The most common housing is flats in blocks from the sixties to the eighties, alongside new-build neighbourhoods with green spaces and some areas of terraced houses. Public transport is very comprehensive: Metro line 12 (MetroSur), which links Alcorcón, Móstoles, Fuenlabrada, Getafe and Leganés, and line 10; Cercanías commuter rail lines C-3, C-4 and C-5; and motorways such as the A-4, the A-42, the A-5 and the M-50. Prices are usually below those of the northern and western metropolitan areas.
