Living and selling in Valdemorillo
Valdemorillo lies about 38 km west of Madrid, in the Sierra Central, between El Escorial and Villanueva de la Cañada. It has around 14,400 inhabitants and a very large municipal area, with a traditional village and many estates of detached houses such as Cerro Alarcón, Puentelasierra, La Pizarrera and Mirador del Romero. It has a long ceramics tradition, recalled by its old earthenware factory, and is known for holding the first bullfighting fair of the year in February, during the festivities of San Blas and La Candelaria.
It has no train: you get there by road from the M-503 or the M-600, and there are intercity buses to Madrid. The Valmayor reservoir, a popular spot for walks and sport, is very close to the village. It attracts families looking for a house with its own plot and nature at lower prices than in the western metropolitan area. Asking prices are in the lower-middle range for the region, although they have clearly risen over the last year.
