Living and selling in the Sierra de Guadarrama
The Sierra Central area brings together seventeen municipalities on the Madrid side of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains and their foothills, with around 193,000 inhabitants. It includes mountain villages such as Cercedilla, Navacerrada, Los Molinos and Miraflores de la Sierra; the historic setting of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and El Escorial; and growing towns such as Guadarrama, Alpedrete, Moralzarzal, Valdemorillo and Villanueva del Pardillo. Part of its territory lies within the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park.
Single-family homes predominate: stone houses in the village centres, old summer villas and estates of detached and terraced houses, alongside blocks of flats in the larger towns. The train arrives on Cercanías commuter rail line C-8 as far as Cercedilla and El Escorial, and the main road route is the A-6/AP-6, together with the M-607, which climbs from Madrid via Colmenar Viejo towards the Manzanares valley and Navacerrada.
